GLYC is an accredited Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Centre. We welcome people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities to find out how fun, safe, accessible, and affordable sailing is.

You can register for a Discover Sailing Course with no prior boating experience or you may have already had an opportunity to get out on the water.  Boats and life jackets are provided.

GLYC Discover Sailing courses include a GLYC Training Membership for remainder of the current sailing season. Members have access to Australian Sailing’s accident insurance. Combined course/membership fees range from $100 for a junior to $300 for a family.  For current members a nominal fee is charged.

  • Better Sailing
Sail in stronger winds and develop the skills from SS 1 and 2.

Courses will commence on 8 November 2026 and 7 February 2027.  Spaces in training courses are limited due to available boat numbers so interested people are encouraged to express interest early by emailing: DSCP@sailglyc.com

It includes people “just mucking about in boats” while others might be learning the basics of yacht racing. Participants may use the club training boats if available, or their own boats. Insurance of private boats is at the owner’s discretion.
