The GLYC Sailability Program offers a sailing opportunity for people of all ages and abilities and disabilities to enjoy sailing. We operate on Wednesday mornings at 9.30 am during Terms 1 and 4 for the School year. A team of volunteers assists in rigging the boats and co-sailing. There is always a rescue boat on the water to ensure safe sailing.
The Sailability Program uses Hansa 303 dinghies. They have two sails – a mainsail and a jib. Sails can be reefed and unfurled from the cockpit. It has a “joystick” for steering. The heavy centreboard ensures these boats are extremely safe and easy to sail. They are virtually impossible to capsize.
The 303 Wide boat will balance perfectly when sailed single-handed, yet also balance when sailed by two full sized adults. The end result is an affordable, very versatile, exciting, yet very relaxing and comfortable boat to sail.
GLYC Sailability welcomes volunteers who would like to assist in this rewarding program. Participants of all abilities and disabilities most welcome. Phone Denise Lamble 0429122407 for further information.
